It is not only because of Anurin Nwunembom’s excellent performance in front of a camera in every film that pushed me to like the film WALLS, but because I managed to understand, the sense, the idea and the message, Cameroon film director, a graduate from the university of Yaoundé 1, from the department of performing arts and cinematography; Narcisse Wandji was trying to tell with motion pictures.

An amazing performance one would say if it was performed on stage. WALLS as titled, embodies the life in prison and the different kinds of black market business going within the prison walls, embezzlement, fraud. The film will serve as the first or one of the first Cameroonian film to have such an amazing location (like Ninah’s Dowry), stage design and crew in the country.

Narcisse Wandji as young as he is, escapes the scene where girls talk of boyfriends and boys talk of how many girlfriends they have, to do pure cinema, fascinating and instigating stories that can be watched everywhere in the world and has landed his worked as the second Cameroonian movie nominated into the best International short film category.

Nominated in the Best Short Film in Cameroon, it would not be because of his amazing cast: Gerald Essomba, Jacobin Yarra, Anurin Nwunembom, Axel Abessolo and Sandrine Marceille, but be because of the point of view in which the film takes, a uniqueness, the change of color, taste, in the Cameroon Film Industry.

The entire story line, the amazing cast used in trilling the story, and most important, the power vested from the post-production walls, must earn him with the lion’s head.

WALLS will serve as a take home message from Cameroon cinema at the Ecran Noir.
